Chemical solutions for challenges in physics
April 16, 2015: PhD Defense Talk

The projects described in the above video involve the design, synthesis, and characterization of a new class of solar energy conversion materials that have the potential to overcome the problems with conventional solar cells.

September 26, 2013: TED Talk

Summary: Small cage-like molecules were connected in regular arrays to help transport the energy imparted by light along a defined path. The resulting “excitons” behave like neutral “particles” moving through the crystal carrying the extra energy. A new process was developed to create the nanoporous array based on a so-called metal-organic framework (or MOF). MOFs are promising new materials for light harvesting and energy transportation with application to solar energy conversion.
